You know...I really enjoyed the fact that you were, what I considered, my peer in art. I had always kind of figured we were at relatively the same level, and could enjoy working through our relative strengths and weaknesses together, both of us progressing and improving at relatively the same rate. I use the past tense to denote all of this because I was wrong. Extremely wrong.

I don't know exactly when you decided to leave me in the dust, but you have. This is absolutely awe-inspiring and of a level I've only ever dreamed of achieving. Everything--down to the last fold of cloth, is rich with intricate detail. Your knowledge of color is truly exemplified in this piece. Also--and this is the thing that really gets me--the thing I could never even hope to achieve--is the texture you use in your work. Especially on the metal. The aged look you give the helmet and arm is so natural and so beautiful. Just looking at it makes it hard to swallow. Not only that, but your design. Your complete originality. It's something not many artists, including myself, have. It's the reason your pieces are so beautiful and the reason I look up to you, especially now, as a far superior artist.

No, really. You are extremely talented. I love the colors you use, and the detail you put into your work, especially this piece. His armor is awesome... the shoulder pad, the legs and feet, to the gears on his chest and helmet. I'm especially drawn to the detail you put into his left knee.
There is a real loneliness to this piece, too. But even still... A single flower blossoms from the branch he holds.
It's very powerful.
